Invited Sessions E-mail

IMPORTANT:  DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING A PAPER TO A SPECIAL SESSION IS
JULY, 1 2009.

Invited sessions

The aim of these special sessions is to bring together a broad body of actors in a specific field, around a selected core of
invited speakers. Contributed talks are also welcomed for each session.

Optofluidics

Session chairman: Charles Baroud, Ecole Polytechnique, France.

Optofluidics is a rising area of interest. It involves the integration of optical
techniques with microfluidics and Lab on a chip development. At a
fundamental
level, research in optofluidics can be divided into three related areas:
  1. Manipulating light with fluids
  2. Manipulating fluids with light
  3. Methods for integration of optics and microfluidics

The sessions will combine invited and contributed talks, covering areas such as droplet-based lasers and optical
elements, microflow manipulation, integration of optical waveguides, and biophysical applications, etc.

Invited speakers (Preliminary): Alper Kiraz (Koc University), Dieter Braun (Ludwig Maximillian University), Jochen Guck
(Cambridge University), David McGloin (University of Dundee), Demetri Psaltis (EPFL), Roberto Ossellame (Politecnico Milano),
Yves Bellouard (Eindhoven University of Technology),  Andreu Llobera (UAB) .

Machine Vision for Industry

Session chairman: Jong-hyeong Kim, Seoul National University, Korea.

Visual measurement and Inspection in nano-level manufacturing sites
has been hot issue. Many good research results have been
applied for industry of Semiconductor,LCD, MEMs, Nano etc.
As the size of target objects is getting
smaller to nano-level, machine vision systems become
very unique in opto-mechatronics and
algorithm.

The sessions will combine invited and contributed talks, covering the topic of machine vision for industry.
